One of the most popular types of science fiction novels is dystopian literature. These books are set in the future in a society that is supposed to be more "perfect" than our world today, but ultimately has flaws.

My utopia would be a world without technology. Technology distracts us from the world, and we become less social. We don’t really play outside or go over to friends houses. My utopia would also be a very friendly world. People would help each other and not be rude unless it’s a good reason. There wouldn’t be stray dogs and cats, and every animal would be in a good home. Everyone would be entitled to a good house, and nobody would have to worry about paying it off. Everyone would be able to go to school, and nobody would be left uneducated. There would be more libraries and more parks and places to hang out with friends. My utopia would be a lot of things, but due to the blog post having to be short and not excruciatingly long, I’ll stop here. You’re welcome.

I disagree with what you said about technology. It does not keep me from socializing with friends. It definitely does not keep me inside or stationary. Actually I am more social with technology. I use it to text, FaceTime and play online games with friends.

One question I have for you is how would you get the world to the stage where everyone would love each other. One subject I think you could have touched on is poverty and how you could fix it. One flaw I think you would have in your perfect world is if you were electing someone how would people decide because they would want to vote for both candidates.Lastly One thing that doesn't make sense is you go to college to study some thing so in the future you could get the job for example I can go to SU and study engineering so I can be an engineer.

In my perfect world there would be no war or hate. There would be peace everywhere, because we would be kind and help others. People would not be judge by the color of their skin, gender, or what they look like. Love trumps hate. Everyone would share with each other! Love and kindness would rule the world!

I really like the idea of free education. But, how will your utopia help the people who can't afford extra education for becoming a lawyer or doctor? I also like the idea of everyone being able to learn the same stuff, but will your utopia have courses for people who want/need advanced classes or extra help ?Overall, I really like your utopia.

My perfect world would have school only 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Teacher’s would not give us homework on Friday and we wouldn’t have as much on Monday and Wednesday. Also school should start at 9:30 everyday instead of 8:00 because nobody likes waking up so early. Collage shouldn’t be as expensive it should only be like $3,000. Another thing I would like in my perfect world is no technology. There would only be a wall phone in each classroom at school and one or two in your house. To conclude I would want everyone to get along and everyone to be nice to one another. That is what my perfect world would be like.

In my perfect world everyone would be athletic, and everyone would like the outdoors. There would be no school in my perfect world because everyone would be born with the skills that we learn in school. Also, in my perfect world nobody would be addicted to technology. There would be peace all over the world and the government would have to follow fair rules that gave them the same rights as the citizens. The 1% would get taxed just as much as the middle class. There would be a law that says that everyone must have a job. This would insure that no one had to go homeless and gets paid.. I would also make a law that says that nobody gets paid to little because that's not fair for people to do the same or more work than others, but get paid the less. This could have a negative impact because the government might lose money since they are paying people so much money, but since the 1% is paying more than in America today the government will receive more money so it will all even out.

Don't you think that not having electronics might cause problems. I mean, people can't find out everything that is happening then. I see why you wouldn't want people on it 24/7, but that doesn't mean that you should take them away totally. Just limit the amount of time that people have on electronics.

In my perfect world I would have a government where the people vote for the congress and other things no electoral college. Also the people could impeach anyone in the government if majority says so. Another thing is everyone has to be nice to each other and we will destroy all weapons people own and military weapons too after we conquer the world. One con is people might rebell. Another con is people might believe in something other than what people voted. Another thing is government cannot have a monopoly over anything majority of the world has to agree. A con to this is people might fight for food or water because of this.

My utopia would be very different from the world now. Some laws I would have are: You have to pay for college, but it will only be 5,000 dollars a year instead of 40-60 thousand dollars a year, which it is now. This could be a bad idea though, because schools won’t have enough money to pay the teachers that work there. There will be no war in my utopia. Only peace and friendship. This might not be possible because people argue all the time, but in my perfect world, that’s how it would be. The government would stay the same. In my utopia, citizens who didn’t have homes would be able to stay in buildings or hotels for free, for three months, until they get themselves on their feet. They would be provided with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also clean clothes. But, after those three months are up, they will have to pay, so that the employes of the building are able to be payed. Also, all countries would be friend with one another. These are all things that would be changed, in my utopia.

Great Job on your utopia I love how you would make college less expensive instead of making it free all together. This is a pro to both students and administrators. My perfect world would be a world of equality for everyone. Each person will make enough to make a living, making poverty depart from unlucky families. This would look like organized neighborhoods, same size, but each one different to account for each person’s different styles. In my perfect world the government would create laws for the environment. Fossil fuels will be banned and other types of energy, for example solar, hydro, and wind will be cheaper. As well as gun control laws so guns won’t be available except for hunting and soldiers for the military. I would make college education more affordable. Overall the environment will become healthier and everything will become more organized to be efficient. Some negative aspects of my new society are, companies will lose money over loss of fossil fuels. Also many Americans will complain about their loss of guns. I would also have to raise taxes a little bit to make colleges more affordable. In conclusion the world will become better with my new changes, but their will always be negative aspects of changes.

For my perfect world would have a law where everyone is treated equally. The golden rule is treat everyone the way you would want to be treated and I think people should live by that rule. My nex law would be no racism or discrimination. Everybody should have a say in what they want. My next rule is when driving there will be no texting, calling or going over the speed limit. These can cause car accidents which can be life threatening and be very devastating. My final rule is that everyone should have an education. An education is very important to learn life skills and to get a good job.

My perfect world would have no criminals, no diseases or sicknesses, no wars, no animals that will kill people, other animals, or anything. I feel like citizens should all be super nice and polite to each other, and trustworthy. Maybe one of the only problems with this would be over population. For school there would be only few students per class and the students or parents get to chose what classes they get put in and what time. The good thing about this would be maybe more kids would enjoys their classes a little more(personally I enjoy my classes). I think that stuff should cost less money so there would be less homeless people and also if there was a homeless person, if all people were nice and trustworthy then they might just take them into their house and help them until they get back on their feet.

My perfect world would be better for Children and adults. There would be more equality, free education and a yearly payment for taxes. Although there are many good things about these , people won’t get paid as much because money will be put into community causes. Prices for objects will go down and worker payment will increase for businesses overseas and in the US. Leaders of larger countries will have to agree on any big change or law that will affect other countries. Citizens will have a right to speak out. If someone was in poverty, they would be able to get a job and a house, later, after a few months they would pay off all the payments they owed. In my perfect world, there will be peace and free.

My perfect world would be more based on taking care of the Earth. All people would be vegetarians. All food would be made out of natural substances so all trash can decompose naturally and we won’t have to burn our trash. All people will be given 500,000 dollars when they are born that they can use throughout their life with the extra money of a job. All people will have homes whether they have no money or a lot. There won’t be many flaws except that if people use the 500,000 dollars right away and leave nothing for the rest of their lives then they won’t have any money. All cultures, skin colors, etc…….. Will be accepted by all people or else they will go to jail. Jail will consist of working at places without being payed, much like interns except that people will be working there for punishment. For the worst kind of cases, they will all work but they will also have consistent visits to therapist and mental specialists. This is my perfect world.

If I was to change how people can’t be entered to the U.S I would change that everyone can be entered no matter what religion they are and what language they speak because where there probably from their country is either fighting or are being attacked and when they want to come to a safe place to live so that they can survive they should be allowed no matter what other people think. Also I would change how we can’t have homework because I personally think that it's not worth and that we're wasting our time just to do extra work that we do during school.

It would be challenging to give people water who live in desert areas if there is no water around. I also like your idea of giving everyone an equal education. However, education costs money. For those that are very poor, they would be very lucky if they are able to have an education. Somehow there has to be a way to pay for schools, teachers, and books. To me my perfect utopia the world would be huge cities with advance technology combined with natural life everywhere space stations across the milky way there wouldn't need use for cars or planes because we would have the technology to teleport from place to place and fast trains. In my utopia there would still be schools where kids go ,but school teach more advanced topics and kids would go to school longer than kids today. In the utopia we would have more advanced Medical facilities . I would keep the government USA uses, I would make better gun laws and safety precautions when using teleportation. All people could live there. But my utopia has its cons, the city would use large amounts of electricity and would need large amounts of money to keep running. But my utopia has its pros better education, better medical treatments and expansion to space. This would be my utopia...

The government would be fair and the president would unite all people. Racism, sexism, and anything of the sort would not be a thing and everyone would accept everyone. Acts such as homicide and suicide would not happen. When people are placed in jail and prison they would have counselling everyday so when they have served their time they will come out a better person. There would not be wars or terrorist attacks. Everybody would have a job and nobody would be homeless. Smoking would be illegal. Cancer or any deadly illness would not be a thing or would be cured. There would be no homework but instead every student after school must be in a club or on a team ( participate in sports, in the musical, etc). Last but certainly not least everyone is loved. In the end we all want the same thing, a happy wonderful life. So if we came together we could make that happen.

My utopia would be having another branch of government. One that is based off of keeping our world in technology organized. In other words, I would want a group of trusted people to have the power to pass laws/not with how we use technology. Also, everyone deserves an education. No matter who they are, where they live, or how much money they are, everyone should be able to have an education to give them a chance to make their lives better. Everyone has only one life, we can’t waste it. We all have flaws, so we need an education to help each other sort them out. Overall, no war, battles, arguments, debates, or unfair treatments. We need to keep our planet as healthy, and as best as it can be.

My perfect world will definitely be an interesting place. The government in my perfect place would be fair and good. The government will listen to everyone’s thoughts and voices. In my perfect world, another change I will make is to college. In my perfect world, College will be free for everyone, but the problem with that is colleges won’t be able to stay open if people don’t pay and nobody wants taxes to increase, but the good news is that college students won’t have to worry about money. In my perfect world I would also change the citizens so that they are all kind to each other and nice, but living in a perfect world can be boring, since nobody can learn from their mistakes and grow. Some new laws I would like to add are: No negativity of any kind, never let yourself be bored, and always try your best. But, the problem with that is that those laws would cause more stress and it would take time to perfect everything. In conclusion, my perfect world will be a great place, but it will face problems and those problems will hopefully be able to be solved.

Dante, you make some great points both positive and negative. In terms of education, I believe that not everyone should and needs to go to college. What I mean by that is some people could learn a skill such as welding, electrician, or plumber. College can be very very expensive and I’m not sure if it would help all people to get a good job. Some students go to college today and don’t even have a real skill to get a job. Instead the students have lots in loans that will drag them down for year without being able to get a good job.

In my perfect world, when you listen to the news, it wouldn’t be so negative. Even though I don’t always understand the issues, it seems like Republicans and Democrats are constantly arguing. Also, it appears that watching sports has become political. Some football players who make millions of dollars are not standing and saluting the flag. In my perfect world, Republicans and Democrats would actually work together for the better of the United States. People are more divided than ever. Perhaps one way to make things more fair would be that elected representatives would serve a specific amount of time instead of a lifetime. It seems that sometimes people who have made a career out of politics do and say anything to get votes. Whether citizens like it or not, Donald Trump is our President. I can’t think of a better place on earth to live because life is very good in the United States. If people could together and do what is best for the country, we would all get along better.

What would happen to the people who are done serving their time in the political business? I also agree that sports should not get involved in political activity, but what would happen if a team/team member DID get involved with the current political activity?

In my perfect world my two main ideas would be that college is free and no one was poor. To make it so college was free I would have the government pay for people to go that in high school they had passing grades. On the down side there would be less money for people who worked in the government. Along with that I would have the taxes help pay people to get back on their feet. This would be hard because with this plan in action money that would go to the government is now in the hands of other people but in time this might come to an end.

In my perfect world, there would be no wars between countries. People would not be mean to each other. Instead, people would be kind, caring, and respectful to each other. People would get along with each other. The people that are poor would have a home, and their water would be safe. It would be a safer and nicer world this way.

A perfect world where everyone is happy.First I would stop The North korean nuclear threats but in order to do so I would get rid of all the nukes in the world. The next thing I’m going to solve world hunger but in order to do so I would tax people one extra dollar world wide. The bad thing about it of course would be people would get angry that they have to pay more money. Then I would stop all civil wars in the world and to stop them we would find a compromise between both groups.

How would you get rid of the nukes and where would you put them where they would be safe. How would you get people to listen to you and what would you do if you ran out of animals to feed people. How do you think life would be different if all of this happened.

First I like your idea of world peace. Although you haven't considered how you would get rid of nukes, peacefully or warlike. Also how would you raise taxes higher without an outbreak from the civilians, when you said everyone would be happy. I have one question, how will you avoid wars with North Korea when you take away their missiles, wouldn't they be angered?

My idea of a perfect world include a plethora of slight changes as well as a few major changes to the society that we live in now. First I would make all humans have equal places in society, having no primary leader. The people would have government positions, food- maker or farmer, kind of like The Giver by Lois Lowry. But unlike The Giver, I would have all humans not be genetically modified, but have the younglings isolated for a few years with a few highly trusted individuals that have passed a rigorous mental test, so the children wouldn’t have any memories of the past and have any ideas that may be vital to a rebellion. Also, the children’s minds would be able to be molded to believe as we wish. I would also try to isolate my colony in a discreet location therefore not to engage in strife of any kind with anyone or anything else. I would want to have education like our system now, but instead of college the ability to specialize in one area of education, so that they would be good at their jobs. I would euthanize all threats inside of our community as to prevent us from losing power. Food supply would be controlled and distributed evenly as to prevent war from breaking out.

Is the tone of your post sarcastic or serious? The Giver shows us there are many issues with children not knowing the past and being assigned jobs. Also, would your perfect world tolerate rebellions or revolutions? These events have benefitted the US in the past.

In my perfect world everything would work in perfect harmony. people would share and greet each other even a simple smile would do. There would be no such thing as money you would work for free and get things for free but no one can get to many things. Everything would be run on solar of wind and school is free. You do not have to go to school if you have other plans with you life. There would be trust in everyone and everyone will trust you. There will be no house to big or too small and everyone would have a house and food at night and a good amount of land for the little things in life like having a good time with your family. This would be nice if it really happened but as long as their are humans this will never happen.

How would the government buy things if there was no money? Also, If one person was a doctor and another person worked at a grocery would they receive the same pay? This would probably make people mad. Overall, you had lots of good ideas in your writing.

My perfect world would be love and peace. There would be no war and everyone could just get along. For this to happen everyone would speak the same language so we could all share ideas. For those that need help with being nicer, for free the government would sign them up for free classes. Also there would be no money. Everyone still needs to work, but everything is free but you have a limit to how much stuff you get every month. Also you get to choose your house depending on how many people are in your family, if you had two people including you in your family then you can choose from a one story house. If there was argument/ fight there would be someone to come and settle it and those two people would go to the classes. If you still were having problems you would go to those classes for as long as you need, but if you refused to then the government could take of a few items you can get that month. (ex. If each person were able to get 100 items a month the government could take 10 of those items off. The bigger the family though, that's how much you duplicate it, ex. 3 members in each family= 300 items). If there was a crime we would have to bring them to a different kind of house and monitor them (sort of like a jail but nicer). They would still have freedom, like being able to shop and go to restaurants, etc. But you get monitored everywhere you go. There would also be laws, but one law would be no weapons. If someone managed to get one then they would go to the special house (the jail) and be monitored.

My perfect world would be when there is free education like college because some people can't afford college and less homework. Also where there is less technology so people could talk to each other. And were if you committed a crime you would go to prison so less people would commit crimes. IN it would also be no pollution. If there wasn't pollution there wouldn't be global warming. Also that everyone would be happy. If everyone was happy then there would be no crimes. Also were there is no bullying anyone . That is what my perfect world would look like.

If the education system was free, how would you pay for the teachers and supplies? Also, how would you make people happy? It isn't that easy; people have tried. By 'no technology' what restrictions apply? How could people communicate worldwide? When you say "if you committed a crime you would go to prison so less people would commit crimes" what do you mean? Isn't that just the system that we use right now? How would you imput and enforce the 'no pollution' law? What changes would you make to the way that we make energy in order to prevent pollution?

I agree that we should try to stop pollution because it is ruining our environment. But how would you get people to stop polluting? Also if college was free where would Universities get the money they need to function? I also like your idea for less homework.

In my perfect world there would be much less use of technology. Technology is very annoying sometimes when people use it so much they lose social skills they had before. Everyone would be much healthier and active by playing sports and other activities. School would be the same as how it is now because it would get boring with less or more of it. Another thing that would stay the same is the government. The general idea of our government is working fine for now at least. In my utopia there would be fewer countries and less conflict between them. Right now there are around 195 countries on earth and if there were fewer they could gain resources that they need. Although a downside of this would be if there was a conflict between two countries it would be on a larger scale because of the size increase of the countries. If I had a utopia this is somewhat what it would look like but I am sure there are more changes that could be made.

What if some people don't really like socializing or playing sports? What if they just chose to read a book, or do something by themselves?

In my perfect world I would change the violence of guns. I would take all the guns away and only have guns open to the government jobs such as police officers and the army. I would also change the the laws of guns. I would raise the price on guns so they’re really expensive. I would also make smoking and drugs illegal and abandon them. I would make gun shows illegal too. I would make banks safe and make it have better security so no one can get in and steel. That is how I would describe my perfect world.

My perfect world would be where there were no electronics and technology isn’t so advanced. Also, no animals at shelters would be hurt and they would all have a home. Every country would have fresh drinking water and bathing water. All countries would be free. There wouldn’t be so much crime either. Children would be able to go places and do more without getting hurt. Also the world wouldn’t be so polluted and factories wouldn’t pollute the air. Everyone would be ok and no one would be starving or homeless. Although this world would be pretty cool it wouldn’t work because their will always be crime and you can’t just make it go away. Also their will always be parts of the world in poverty and starving. Also some parts of the world will not have fresh drinking water and you can’t really change that.

If I had a perfect world. I would want to be able to go to school later then 8. I say we should go to school at 9 because look at it we all don’t want to get up around 6-7. When we get to school we are all tired and we are not focused on who’s teaching. That is why when we have a long time to sleep in we will be able to be functioned and be awake. We will also focus on the teacher. That is one thing I would want in my perfect world. I also say that we should change the violence of weapons. We should only be able to use weapons if we are in the army or navy. Also the laws of the weapons would be different.

I totally agree with your utopia. One question though, if we go to school at 9:00, would that mean we would go home later in the day? Or will lunch or some class be shorter?
