The first part that stuck out to me were when John was talking about the God grew tired of us speech and explained that god grew tired of all the wrong doings that we humans have done and still are doing to this day. This stuck out to me because I think that this contributes to all of us, all of us are doing wrong things this very second. So god decided to ‘torture’ us/Sudan by the war and separating hundreds of family’s. The second part that stuck out to me was the reunion at the airport. This stuck out to me because it was very emotional and the mom seemed very happy to be meeting his son after 17 years of separation, and the fact that she thought that John was dead also stuck out to me a lot. Mostly everything stuck out to me but these were the most that stuck out.

One scene that impacted me was the man cooking in a little brick house talking about how it wasn't accepted. And how his friends wouldn't be friends with him because it's the culture and religion they follow.

The two scenes that had the most impact on me was the rejoicement of John and his mother and the picture of a starved child either died or hardly alive. These two scenes stuck out to me because the one with the child shows me personally how grateful i must be and how i need to appreciate the people around me. It’s important that you also accept what is given to you. If you receive a type of food or drink you think you don't like, just try it because that food or drink could save a life somewhere in the world. The other scene helps me embrace love because you never know when their day will come or yours. So you need to love and respect your elders no matter how rude/annoying you think they are! In conclusion i think these two scenes made me have a different perspective on life.

I agree with both of your reasons, even if the second one was a bit dark.I agree with you because on your first one, this teaches us the values of life and how grateful we are to be alive. For your second reason I can relate because when you talk to an elder you always show them the upmost respect because they are wiser.overall,I agree with you because in your writing it teaches us the values in life and how to act in life and what to do and appreciate

A lot of scenes in this documentary were so sad and traumatizing but others so inspiring. When they showed the little kids standing there being able to see all of there bones and ribs and suffering from no water and food hit me really hard. My body ached imagining if I was put in that situation where I looked down and saw all bones. KIds all around the world are sicker than sick and have nothing to do about it. The next scene that touched me was when John met his mother after 17 years of being seperated. Her reaction of being so happy really represented her culture, I wasn’t expecting it but it is part of their tradition. She was so filled with joe her body didn’t know how to act so her body just fell to the ground. This documentary really made me think more than just “oh people around the world are suffering” but they really are, they are going through such scary horrific times.

Not only watching the documentary, but reading your post, made my heart feel so warm and it was so inspiring. It really helps me understand what people in Sudan are living through and how they are struggling. These two scenes were 2 out of the 3 scenes that really got to me.

The first scene that I thought was the saddest is when he says he has to bury the dead bodys of little children who did not make it through the long journey through Southern Sudan. I chose this part because it is showing how a 13 year old boy is having to bury the dead bodys of little children, and that is very hard to do especially for a little boy. The other scene that I chose is when John Dua meets his mom in the airport after 17 years of being apart, and how they are crying and really happy to see each other. I chose this scene because it is very inspirational to me, and has a lot of meaning to it. Overall these two scenes have made me very sad and showed me the incredible weight on the Lost Boys, but it also showed me inspiration, and how perseverance can get you to the end of the struggle.

The two scenes that stuck out the most to me were the ones when the lost boys came to America and when John met her mother in the airport after several years. When they got to America they were so surprised to see what kind of luxuries we had in America. They were very confused to see normal appliances that we either see or use all the time. They were struck with confusion when they were told that they were allowed to eat whatever and whenever they wanted.

In the movie God Grew Tired of us the two scenes that had the most impact on me out of all the other scenes was then the little Sudanese children popped up on the screen because they were skinny to the point where you could see their bones. That one scene impacted me the most because the children were so skinny since they hadn’t eaten for so long. The kids looked tired and hungry since they were skinny plus it made me feel bad because they are skinny and have nothing but in United States we have all this food and aren’t skinny at all. Another scene that impacted me was when John finally saw his mother after 17 years of separation. That impacted me because it was touching to see a mother be reunited with child after 17 years of separation. It also shows hope because John kept believing and waiting for the day that he would finally see his mother and his sister again.

The two scenes that had the most impact one was when they showed some of the lost boys drinking really bad dirt water didn’t look clear one bit just all brown. Another was when everyone was escaping and going to the Refugee camp everyone didn’t have any food or water and they were walking for months so people were shriveled up, you can see bones, rib cages, and there was not one bit of fat just skin and bones.

This week we watched a documentary about lost boys from Sudan that have been separated from their parents. Some of the lost boys have been chosen to go to America to create a new and better life. When watching this documentary many scenes stuck out to me. One scene was when the lost boys were at the grocery store trying to figure out what some types of foods there are, and how you can cook the foods. As they were doing so a man was staring at them in a weird disgusted way. This is important to the documentary because it shows how easily people in america can judge, and how disrespectful many of us can be even if we don't know their story. Another scene was when the stores didn't want the lost boys in a group because it was intimidating and scary. This is also important because like the first reason many people in America are being very disrespectful. The lost boys have already lost so much and they want to stick together, but telling them they have to depart is so rude and very hurtful. These are somethings that have stuck out to me during this documentary.

The scene where a guy stares at the lost boys in a disgusted way when the lost boys went to the grocery store had a pretty big impact on me, as well. I agree it shows that people in america are to quick to judge others and I feel like that is not a very good thing if they are judging negatively. I think us, Americans, as a whole should be more open to others and not judge so much.

The two scenes that affected me the most in the documentary God Grew Tired Of Us was the scene with the starving children and the Christmas scene. In the scene that included the starving children, you could see their ribs and bones. This was hard to look at, and really impacted me. I always knew there was starvation, but I never knew how it looked. The sight scared me, but also showed me how bad things are. This contributed to the documentary because it showed how frightening and difficult the starvation was for the Lost Boys. John, Panther, and Daniel had to go through this, which gives a reason for them to go back and help the Lost Boys still without safety. The Christmas scene was very intriguing. It was strange to see how different Christmas is in America compared to Sudan. The way it was Juxtaposed really showed the difference. It’s strange to see how Christmas in Sudan isn’t really about presents and candy, it’s more about love. This is important to the documentary because it shows how much change the Lost Boys are going through. These scenes were really intriguing and strange to watch, and affected me a lot.

I agree with you, that I knew their was starvation, but not how it looked. It did look very sad, and it made me want to help them. I think that the Christmas in Sudan has better morals, like, as you said, it is mostly about family, while our Christmas is mostly about gifts. I agree that these scenes were intriguing.

Two scenes that had an impact on me were when they were at the refugee camp, and they were very skinny and how they were talking about how they were starving. They were so skinny I kid see all of their bones. This stuck to me because I thought that it was very sad and I felt extremely bad for them. I can’t imagine if I was like that. I would not be able to do any sports that I like to do. The other scene that really impacted me was when John Dau met up and reunited with his mother for the first time after 17 years. This really stuck to me because I thought that it was very emotional and they looked like they felt super happy, and i was happy for them. I could not imagine going that long without seeing my mom. These scenes contribute to the whole documentary because at first it showed how terrible there lives were, and than after it showed that they had the ability to be very happy.

The 2 scenes that most stook out to me were when his uncle had to keep care of his nephews because he was only 11. Another scene that stuck out to me was when John found his mother after 17 years away from her. The reason why these both stuck out to me was because first the uncle was only 11 and had to keep his 2, 3 year old nephews. My second reason is when john met his mom again, the reason is because it was 17 years since they last saw each other. These scenes contribute to the document because they are big parts. The uncle had a big responsibility and john met his mom after forever. These are both very big scenes for this document because they both show tough times and responsibility.

While watching the documentary, I thought that the part where they were on the walk to safety stood out the most to me.They were starving and you could see the outline of their bones really easily. The purpose if showing us how skinny they were and what they were going through while walking. Another part that stood out to me was when they were leaving the refugee camps. It made me sad because they were leaving everyone they knew and that has been their home for many years. The purpose of this was to show that even though they were leaving for America, It was tough not knowing what life was going to be like. One last part that stood out was when John talked about how some of the refugees started to ignore their culture. The purpose of this was to prove that you shouldn’t leave your culture even if you’ve left your homeland. Those are some scenes that stood out to me while watching the documentary.

The part where they were leaving the refugee camps had an impact on me, too. When they didn't know what to expect in America but wanted to take the chance because of all the bad conditions in Sudan. They were also very devastated to leave their 'brothers' because they've stayed with them for a while and helped each other in the toughest of times. That part really had an impact on me, as well.

I really found God Grew Tired of Us, a documentary on lost boys from south sudan, interesting. I learned a lot about how the lost boys and girls. One of the scenes that stuck to me was how John, Panther, and Daniel were reacting when they saw all the people and new food. I think that stuck with me because it was kind of funny. Another scene that stuck with me was when John found his mom. I think these scenes were important, because it showed how different South Sudan and America. I thought that when he saw his mom was important, because when the most of the documentary was sad, they ended with a happy ending.

In God Grew Tired of Us two scenes that had a big effect on me was when they noticed that one of their friends went missing and he had a “disorder” from being away from Africa. This meant a lot because you can have comfort and safety somewhere but not feel fully completed and he ended up being traumatized by this. This contributes to the documentary because since they have gotten here, they feel out of place and felt they do not belong. Also what I thought was different was that they knew what Christmas was but did not understand Santa.Personally for them it’s better for them not to know what Santa is because in Africa a less fortunate place, they must help each other and learn to give not get.Because here we take everything for granted, but for them they need each other to survive. So I thought it taught us a little bit of self values and what really is important in life.

I also thought it was interesting that they didn't know who Santa was. This also made me realize that in America, we usually take everything for granted and how different life is in Southern Sudan compared to America. However, when the documentary showed what Christmas was like in Sudan, I noticed that the Sudanese people were very happy, so maybe they would prefer their own way of celebrating Christmas.

God Grew Tired Of Us has many important scenes that I personally loved which I will explain in the following paragraph. One scene was when all of the new refugees first arrived in America, and went to the supermarket. The reason I liked this scene is because it shows how the men were all so interested in the food, like when they tried a doughnut and were interested in it which is different in America because when we get a doughnut we don’t think about how it looks or feels we just eat it right away. Another scene I liked was when all of the Lost Boys reunited. This connected to me right away because as a Jew sometimes I would act like I wasn’t one and just try to fit in like some of the younger Lost Boys but I knew I was one and should be proud to be Jewish. The first scene I explained contributed to the whole text because it shows how the men never knew of what we take for granted everyday, like clean water, which all of the men rarely got while in the refugee camp or while running away from the war. The second part of the documentary I explained was important to the whole text because it showed how even though you may not like your religion or your origins, you should always stick to what you believe in and your religion no matter what other people think of it. I also liked that part because it was very emotional for the men and even for viewers when they were reunited with the family they may have not seen for many years. God Grew Tired Of Us was I great movie in which I could connect to in some ways and I hope others did too.

In the documentary God Grew Tired of Us one scene that stood out to me was when the lost boys kept hugging over and over again at the reunion. This stood out to me because usually people hug once but they kept hugging and hugging each other. Another scene that stood out was when John met his mother again. This stood out because she reacted exactly how Sudanese people traditionally do even though she is in an American airport. These two scenes contributed to the whole documentary because at the reunion it showed how much the boys missed each other, and how tight they are. Also, when John met his mother it showed how much he loves her and missed her after seventeen years apart. The purpose of these scenes was to show how much not seeing their friends and family from Sudan hurt them. It also showed the viewer that these men had their friends and family in the back of their mind while they lived in America. Overall, this documentary showed the many hardships Sudanese people endured.

God Grew Tired Of Us is a documentary about three lost boys from Sudan who had to flee from their home and went to a refugee camp in Kenya. They are selected to travel to the United States of America. Two scenes that stood out to me were when Panther and Daniel were turning the lights on and off, and when they tried a donut for the first time. The first scene stood out to me because they were amazed with the lights. It contributed to the documentary because it was one of their first adjustments to America. The scene when they tried the donut for the first time stood out to me because they ate it weirdly. A man was staring at them from afar in confusion. This is important because they showed how eating and trying new things is different in America than Sudan. Overall, there are many scenes in the documentary that stood out to me.

The first scene that had a big impact on me was the one where the Lost Boy’s first came to America and they had no idea about the home appliances and other American products. This stood out to me because you can really grasp at how big of a transition they were going through. It also made me wonder what it would be like to be in their shoes. I could really imagine being in awe when they saw running water for the first time. The second scene that stood out to me was when the boy were leaving the camp to go to America. This stood out because you could see the pain and sorrow of leaving the brothers behind but you could also see how they saw the opportunity that came with a chance like this. The first scene contributed to the documentary because it gave the watcher a glimpse at what it’s like to start a new life and how difficult it is to adapt. The second scene contributed because it made you wonder if they were ever going to be reunited with their family and brothers from the camps. It really made you think about how hard a decision like that is to make.

One of the scenes in God Grew Tired of Us that had a big impact on me was the scene where one of the Lost Boys in the apartment took some crackers and poured them into a container, then poured some milk into it and crushed the crackers. He then cooked the mixture and served it to the other people he was living with. This stuck out to me because it was funny and it showed that even though they were in America, they still liked their own food. This contributes to the documentary because it was comparing the way that the Lost Boys ate and cooked to the way they did in Sudan and showing that they wanted to live their life in Sudan, only in America. The other scene that impacted me was the scene where Daniel was talking about how he saw a woman crying and no one was helping her. This stuck out to me because Daniel walked up to the woman and asked her what was wrong. Daniel was the one person that helped her when no one else would. This scene contributed to the film because it showed how friendly and kind Sudanese people usually were, and living in America, Daniel kept on wondering why when you pass people on the street, no one said hi to you. This scene compared American people to Sudanese people in a way by Daniel involving himself in the woman’s problem.

Kenna, I also think when Daniel helped the woman by talking to her was important because most people, especially American Citizens, don't even try to make people feel better, but other people like Daniel know how it feels to be in a situation like the woman. People should do this more often.

The scenes that stood out to me were when the boys in the refugee camps were so skinny that they were sitting there dead because they had no food or and water. Also another thing that stood out to me was when the mom was yelling in the airport because she saw her son after 17 years. When the boy is sitting there on the groundd dead that is really important because he probaly died because he didn’t have and food or water. The other one was Important because the mom had not seen her son since he was 13 and he is now 30 years old. The mom started doing a culture dance because she was so happy and he was too. The mom was also yelling very loud and ahe was so happy. Also his sister was there and she was also rwally happy to see him. He was scared and nervous to see them

For the first one event though it is a bit dark I understand what you meant. This bascially shows us that here in America we are very unconcerned of food or water because we can get it wherever, whenever.Like for us,water comes out of a tap,but for them, then must walk 10 minutes in their area to get maybe clean water. And for our food,we go to a grocery store, but they must plant, water and maybe kill,I don't know for sure though. For your second one,I understand what she must be feeling and it really is a great moment, because they have not seen each other for longer than they have see each other!I find this touching because after so many years he finally gets to see his mom, even if he was nervous,he still showed affection toward his mom and sister.

In the documentary “god grew tired of us” there were alot of events in the movie that stood out to me more than other.. One of the best scenes in the documentary was when John Dou was reunited with his mother and his sister and when his mother did her reaction. I feel like this seems very important to the documentary because it shows the viewers how nice it is to see everyone you care about and to not neglect every minute you spend with them. Another very important part of the documentary to me is when the lost boys when outside and did a little dance circle and sang as well. I feel like this is very important to the movie because it shows alot of the people watching that no matter were you are or what you do your culture and all of your reliogon will never live you.

One part that really stood out to me is when John's mom started to scream and fell to the ground. This contributed to the film because it shows how this war has gone on for so long and families have been separated for so long. This also shows the bond between a mother and son that have been apart for so long split up because of war. Another part of the film that stood out to me was when they came to America and did not know what anything was and were confused. This contributes to the text because they have been living there whole life with no running water. They also had no electricity or grocery store. This also probably overwhelmed them and made them nervous. They also had to relearn everything they know and had to live in a strange place.

This really me that they can live without amenities that we can't live without. Another scene that stood out to me was when he had a reunion with his mom. I am amazed he lasted 17 years without his mom I could never do that. There reunion was super nice to see. With out that in the move it would have been a good ending. In the documentary God grew tired of us some of the most impactful scenes to me were when it showed the last boys walikg to the refugee camps and when Panther left Daniel to go to the dormatories so he could go to college. When It showed the lost boys walking to Kakuma it was eye opening because they really were living off of nothing, all they had was hope and the tattered clothes on their backs. It shows that some people across the world are struggling so much with food water shelter or other basic things that all people, in my mind should have. Its very sad to think that so many people are dying evry dsy becasue of the shortages of food and clean water. Panther leaving Daniel symbolized to me, that even when you have someone in a new or different place with barely anyone or anything you still have something to loose.

In the documentary God Grew Tired Of Us about the lost boys of Sudan, The two scenes that had the most impact on me in the documentary was when some of the lost boys were coming into The United States on a plane they were eating butter and ketchup and then saying their food was better. This scene stuck out to me because it showed how different our worlds are and how they loved their food way more because it had more flavor. The other scene that I thought was greatly impacting to me was when they had a meeting and John thought that some of the younger boys were losing their culture because they were dressing differently and acting more American. John did not like this because he believed that keeping their culture would keep them close to home in their hearts and still want to help the other Sudanese people. When John thought this I agreed because if I were to move to france I would miss my home and would not want to forget it. The first scene contributes to the whole text because it shows how these lost boys were getting into something that they had no idea about. THe second scene contributes to the whole text because it shows how lost in a new world you can get and how they were so lost they starting acting like the people around them. Overall this document shows many details that are very interesting to watch and how are lives are very different.

In God Grew Tired of Us, one scene that had the most impact on me was when John didn’t understands the customs of U.S. Christmas. This showed me that not all countries celebrate Christmas the same way we do. For example, John and his friends didn’t understand who Santa is and what he does. Although back in Sudan, they celebrate Christmas by dancing and having fun with relatives and people that are part of the same tribe. Another scene that impact on mewas when they explained no one talks to each other like they did when they were in Sudan. They explained that if you go on another person's land, they would just call the police. Unlike Sudan where everyone is friendly and let you stay on their land. Also, they explained that if you are on the side of a road and are looking sad, they will just walk by you and not even notice you. Although the people in Sudan would walk up to you and ask whats wrong.

One of the scenes that had the most impact on me was the scene where one of the lost boys (I think it was John) was saying that the lost boys that came to America were starting to act like Americans and were not keep their Sudan culture with them. He said that they should always keep their culture with them and cherish it. I can relate to that because my dad is from South Korea and we go to a Korean church so in my family we keep a lot of the Korean culture at our homes and in how we act and speak. Also, at my church we speak a lot of Korean and have Korean manners, too. So I can relate to what John was saying. This scene contributes to the whole documentary because the Sudanese people want to keep their culture and want to remember that Sudan is their home and where they grew up but some lost boys forget that when they go to America and then they start to act like Americans. But the Sudanese want them to remember who they are inside. Another scene that had an impact on me was the scene where one of the lost boys (maybe Panther?) said that so many of the other lost boys are reuniting with their families and that he hoped and believed that his family was still alive. I can sort of relate to that because sometimes when I go to a girls camp in the summer for a week I miss my family so much and get home sick. But I just can’t imagine being away from my family for like 10 or so years and how hard it would be and how much I’d miss them. This scene contributes to the whole documentary because so many people in Sudan refugee camps get separated from their families and don’t know where they are or if they’re even still alive. This is very devastating that these refugees have to go through this and I hope that someday this will not be a problem.

God Grew Tired of Us is a documentary written and directed by Christopher Quinn. God Grew Tired of Us was about 3 Sudanese Lost Boys, who are people who were in a refugee camp in Kenya during a civil war in Sudan, and then were transported to the US where the started a new life. The character’s names were John, Panther, and Daniel. I think this movie had multiple impacts on me and helped my understanding on Lost Boys and the situation in Sudan. One scene that stood out to me was when John Dau is in a Lost Boys convention and he talks about how the younger Lost Boys are straying from their tribal culture. This impacted me because it shows how the younger Lost Boys are forgetting their heritage and how people like John feel about it. The second scene from the movie that stood out to me was the scene where the two lost boys repeatedly hugged each other. This stood out to me because it showed how much they missed each other and how strong of a bond they grew in the Kakuma refugee camp. Those were only 2 scenes from God Grew Tired of Us that had an impact, but there were definitely more.

In the documentary God Grew Tired Of Us there were two scenes that made an impact on me. One of these scenes was when the lost boys were walking down the streets of syracuse city and they said that it was very weird that they couldn't stop and ask for directions because people here were not as friendly to strangers as people were back in Sudan. I think this contributed to the whole documentary because it showed how different people were there then in syracuse and it also showed how unsocial people in syracuse are. Another scene that had a big impact on me was the last scene when John reunited with his mother after 17 years. This contributed a ton to the film because it showed that they always had hope they always new something good would happen. Also when John said that his mother always told him to work hard but he didn't realize what it meant until now, this gave it a hopeful ending to a sad and tragic story.

The two scenes that stood out to me in God Grew Tired of Us was when the lost boys were in the plane coming to America, and when Jon Bul Dau was reunited with his mother. When the lost boys were on the plane to America, they didn’t know what electricity was, they didn’t know about half of the things they were eating, and they had never been in planes before. This scene stuck out to me for me due to this, and it was also interesting to see the lost boys trying to figure out what they were supposed to do with things they were given. When Jon Bul Dau was reunited with his family, it was an emotional moment for me when I was watching. He hadn’t seen his mother in 17 years, and when he finally did, it got me feeling emotional because even though it has only been a few months since my friend moved, I can imagine being reunited with her and feeling emotional.

A meaningful scene for me was also when John Dau met his mother! I think that greatly reinforced the enduring love of family. I agree that it was interesting to see the Lost Boys experience everything we are used too, and it gave me a different perspective. I also agree that most Lost Boys don't often meet their families again. I very much enjoyed the hopeful ending.

The documentary God Grew Tired of Us was very meaningful and full of a positive message: always keep up hope. Two scenes that impacted me were when John Dau met his mother, and when they first arrived in America. The first scene I mentioned, when John met his mother, impacted me in a positive way. It showed me how even people who have experienced great tragedies can still feel happiness, and to never give up hope, because someday what you hope may come true. This also showed me the enduring love of family, because John and his mother had been apart for 17 years, but neither John nor his mother lose faith that they each may be alive. When they were reunited, his mother immediately started screaming for joy that she could see her son. We take for granted our families sometimes, not appreciating how they take care of us, or lift our spirits when we are down. This has showed me not to do that. That scene contributed to the entire documentary because this resolved a major conflict with John Dau; whether or not his family was ok, and whether he’d see them again. Seeing his mother mended a part of him that he felt was missing, and it resolved the conflict by confirming that one family member was definitely ok, and being able to be near her again really allowed him to feel less lonely and more ready for harder challenges in America. Seeing his mother again also may have inspired John to create his foundation and start the health clinic in South Sudan, as he may have realized what he would’ve done by realizing what his mother had gone through. The other scene I was impacted by, the scene where the Lost Boys featured first arrived in America, also impacted me in a positive way. It showed me a perspective of the U.S. that I had not seen before. Through the Lost Boys’ eyes, I saw how we normally act towards each other as citizens, and how unfriendly we actually are. The boys said that no one would say hi on the streets, and there was almost no one they could ask about the culture. This opened my eyes to our indifference to each other, and how we are not very social people, at least not in person. It also surprised me when I saw how hard they had to work to support themselves, and it got me thinking how this country treats immigrants and other matters. This showed me to be more friendly, at least smile to someone, and wave, perhaps. A little kindness and time can go a long way, especially to newer citizens or unrepresented people. This scene was important to the story because it started their recovery time in America, recovering from the horrors of war, death, and starvation. It also allowed them to go to school and raise money for their mother country. While their coming to America wasn’t the friendliest, it certainly was necessary to move forward in their lives, learn, and grow to reach their goals. These scenes impacted me deeply. I will try to remember the lessons during harder times in my life, and these scenes will stick with me.

The two scenes that had the most impact on me in the documentary God Grew Tired of Us were the one scene when it shows how different christmas is from america and south sudan and the scene where John Bul sees his mother again after 17 years. When John asked “what is the Santa?” “is it brought up in the bible?” I was slightly confused, I never thought of how others celebrate christmas and then they showed a clip of their christmas in sudan. It looked fun and like they had a true understanding of christmas,They were singing and dancing, no presents and they had everyone participate, family AND friends- all together celebrating jesus’s birth. This contributes to the documentary by showing how different is was here than in south sudan and how much they had to learn about. Then when showing John seeing his mother and their reactions, it was happy they found each other and sad that they ever lost each other. I was away from my mom for two weeks and I was sad so I could never imagine having to wait so long. My friends have called their mom things when their moms aren’t around and i could never, i love my mom- no matter how many times i get grounded or yelled at, So I could never think of not seeing her for as long as John did. This scene contributed to the documentary by showing some of the emotion behind everything John went through, he lost his family and they didn’t get to watch and be there with him.

In the documentary God Grew Tired Of Us one of the scenes that stood out to me was when the lost boys were sitting on the sidewalk and they were trying to get someone's attention but no one would ask them if they were lost or something. This stuck out to me because all around the world people are not helping people or asking if there okay when there lost. Another scene that stood out to me was when John reunited with his mother after 17 years. Her reaction of being happy and grateful really represented culture because I thought they were going to be hugging and she would be kissing him on the cheek a lot. But she didn’t instead she had sing a song that her people sing when there happy. These two scenes contributed to the documentary because It showed me that people all around the world are suffering just like us, but there suffering In a different way.

All of the scenes in “God Grew Tired of us” were amazing and moving, but only two scenes really stood out to me. One of the scenes was at the beginning of the movie, when people were dying because they had to drink dirty water, urine, or sometimes even dirt! This explains how dangerous it can be in Sudan. The other scene that stood out to me was in the end, when the lost boy’s mother saw him for the first time in 15 years! That must have been super exciting for her!

The first scene in the documentary that impacted me was when they kept calling these men “lost boys.” I understand why they used to be called lost boys, but when they become grown men it is disrespectful. Calling them “lost boys” feels like a way to put them down and not give them credit for what they have done. These are young men who have walked miles, buried there loved ones, witnessed their parents being murdered, they found ways to come together, entertain themselves, create families and take care of each other. It did not feel good to hear that being “lost” was what defined them. They were so much more than lost. Calling these men “lost boys” made the whole documentary seem degrading to me.

One of the senses that had the most impact on me was when they found out they were going to the United States. This had a big impact on me because i think many people including me take living in the United States for granted but many people whether its lost boys or not want to live her because its a safe country. Also they got excited even though there are many things in their life that don't make them smile like they had to leave their family behind but them coming to the U.S is one of the few things that make them happy at the moment. I feel like this was an important part of the documentary because for the years they walked to safety even if it was hard and the years they spent in the refugee camps finally paid off and they get to come here to the united states and be safe. Another one of the scenes that had the most impact on me was when some of the lost boys finally got to see their families. This is because after all their hard work and wondering where their relatives are and if their ok they find that most of them are ok. This Is an important part of the documentary because the lost boys talk about their families alot and they wonder if they are safe then one day they are finally reunited with them and it's a happy part. This also brings them joy after the hard parts of their life like when they were walking day apon days trying to get to safe the war broke out.

There were two scenes in God Grew Tired Of Us, that made in impact on me. The first scene that made an impact on me was, the part where Daniel said some touching words on helping others. He said that in his country he would always get involved with others people’s problems so that he could help them. When he was at his job at Whole Foods, he asked a crying woman what was wrong, she looked up at him because his empathy made her feel like she was at home. This made an impact on me because he was willing to go up to random stranger and help them through their tough times and make them feel better. Daniel’s actions inspired me and motivated me into showing empathy and care toward all people, not just people you know. The second scene that made an impact on me was when John Dau reunited with his mom. After 17 years of being seperated, their reunion was the most happy and emotional event that I watched. The way they celebrated with one another and had tears of joy. This impacted me because the way John and his mom reunited, it was as if I could feel what they were feeling. It showed that even after challenging times, good things can happen. The heart warming and motivating touches that came out of watching this even made it so many can be inspired. These two scenes contributed to the documentary because it connected to their past when they were in Sudan. Although these two events were completely different, they tied it all together. These were the two scenes of the documentary that made the most impact on me.

One scene that really stuck out to me was when we saw the conditions in the camp. The camp was their only hope and the Lost Boys and Girls fought so hard to get to the camp but conditions we awful. The homes we tents and mud. The children we emaciated. Another thing about this scene was the kids were happy. They were able to be happy in such horrible conditions. I have so much respect for these kids. The other screen that impacted me was when they went into their apartment for the first time. When the person was showing them how to use a light they had no idea what it was. The man had to explain to them that you throw things away instead of throwing them out the window. This stuck with me because the things we take for granted in our daily life like clean water was incredible to them.

The documentary God Grew Tired Of Us, made me process many different feelings. Two feelings I felt was despairing and also made me more thankful for what I have in life. One scene that made me feel despairing was when, The crowd of lost boys in sudan were starving and were very rawboned. This scene made me feel like this because watching kids getting sick from being skinny, and not having enough food and liquid made me feel so bad for them and made me think of how much I have in life. Watching kids die from starvation, I could never believe. I could never imagine being lost from my family, and not being able to eat a normal meal. Another scene that made me feel more thankful was when John Dau got to meet his mom. This made me feel like this because, I’m able to spend my life with my mom by my side, and able to talk to her in person everyday and every second. Another reason that made me feel more thankful is when they showed where they lived. They didn’t have a ceiling over where they slept while I have a roof over my head, and I’m able to live in my house without any worries. Those are two scenes that made me feel despairing and made me feel more thankful for what I have in life.
